Home.

Thank God we’re home! Our little hiatus gave us some much needed realization and rootedness. Everything we could ever want is right here. We bought the cutest little 1910 coal miner’s cottage in the whole world in a sleepy, little Norman Rockwell town called Rockvale. We bought it sight unseen, so you can imagine our utter delight at all the amazing things this place holds. We are surrounded by the Wet Mountains to the south, the San Juans to the west, and the Rocky Mountains to the north. Pikes Peak out the front door with a huge rock face that we hiked yesterday across the street, and the south windows hold the majesty of a mountain range I continue to paint on canvas. I set up my loom and have been weaving. The animals love it here, and we do too. We are minutes away from our youngest daughter and granddaughters and a jaunt down the highway to our grandson and our other two children. We are so grateful. So, so grateful and happy. It’s like this cool high desert air just breathed life right back into us.

Oh, by the way, it’s my twelfth blog anniversary! Can you believe it? If you are new around here, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Katie, and along with my husband, Doug, we have lived a lot of life in the past twelve years. This blog holds a dozen years of farming advice, adventures, recipes, and just anything you could think of regarding homesteading and family. Almost half our life together is recorded here and the next chapter begins.

We have a small yard! That’s new for us but we will make the most of it. We have herds of deer in the yard (oh, my heart is so happy!), so I have a plan for gardening for year. I have lots of new herbal remedy recipes, and lots more ideas to share. I love the community that surrounds a blog. I can’t wait to get to know y’all!
So, welcome to these parts and if you want to exchange Holiday cards or be penpals, my mailing address is Katie Sanders, P.O. Box 49, Rockvale, CO 81244. I’ll be sure to write back!

Welcome Back. Do you still make herbal salves?
I don’t have any made right now but I’m making pain salve this week. Do you still have my number?
Not sure. The number I have ends in 3370
That’s it!
Great I will pass that on to my wife. I know she was wanting your Skin Salve (Calendula, lavender, arnica, mullein, rose, comfrey, olive oil, & beeswax) but she will also be interested in the pain salve.
