Weaving in various textures into a piece creates visual interest and better tells stories. I consider myself a story teller. The incredibly passionate woman that commissioned this shawl has overcome tremendous heartache, and through it, has opened her heart to the community and freely expresses her authentic self. This shawl tells her story of rediscovering beauty in life, her vibrant, festive personality, and celebrates the healing shop she is opening that has everything to do with love.

I wish you could feel how incredibly soft this shawl is! I used antique lace from my grandmother’s lace collection that I inherited and added a touch of fringe. I made this shawl longer as well. It is really a breathtaking piece! It is not spoken for, is it yours? $98. KatiesFolkArtStudio.Etsy.com

Weaving Pro Tip- To stop static electricity in your yarn while winding your shuttle, place a piece of dryer sheet in the container with the yarn. As the skein unwinds, it rubs against the sheet! In this dry climate, static electricity is always an issue. Issue solved!

I am currently weaving a rare-for-me monochromatic shawl with a beautifully soft cream yarn and antique lace that just sings about lovely brides, springtime, and new beginnings. Such a gorgeous day to be in my garden studio!
