A fun time was had by all at the first annual Rockvale Homemaker’s Swap. Our beautiful town is very small and how nice it was to meet some of the neighbors. A few ladies from surrounding towns responded to the invite as well. Heather organized it and sent out the word about it. We were instructed to bring ten handcrafted items for the swap. Each lady would take home one of each.

Karen offered to host it at her house and a spread was laid out of veggies and treats and a gorgeous bowl of punch. It felt a little like we were all going back in time when women got together, hand made items, and even the punch bowl was nostalgic!

I believe since cell phones and computers have become the norm, then covid being the final attempted death to all socialization, we have to try and get out of our cozy homes and meet with folks. Make friends. Make crafts. Make memories.

The gifts ranged from homemade candles, to hand etched vases, baked goods, plants, jams, and hair clips. I brought ten pots of baby aloes. Each woman walked around the table gathering one of each item. Smiles and laughter filled the room.

This was such a simple gathering and was so much fun. Perhaps you might try it in your community!
